Cottage Cheese, Apple and Walnut Plate

Short answer: Put 1 cup cottage cheese on a plate with a sliced apple, a spoon of chopped walnuts, a pinch of cinnamon and a little honey. Five minutes, about 30 grams of protein.

Not every Ping has to be a full meal. If you're breaking a longer fast and want to start light, or need something between meals in your window, this plate gives you about 30 grams of protein with almost no effort.

Like every recipe on PingDiet, this one was developed by Michael Gonzales from standard ratios.

Starting light after a longer fast

Some people find a smaller first meal sits better after a long fast, then eat a full meal an hour or two later. Do what works for you; if you have a medical condition, check with your doctor before fasting for long stretches.

Make it a meal

Add a slice of whole-grain toast, or double the cottage cheese and add a second piece of fruit.

Nutrition estimate

One plate comes out to about 360 calories, 31 g protein, 12 g fat, 35 g carbohydrate, 5 g fiber and 28 g sugar, with about 920 mg sodium. We worked that out from USDA FoodData Central values for each ingredient [1]. Brands vary, especially for cottage cheese, so check your labels if you track numbers closely.
